From Tragedy to Triumph: Henri’s Journey to Fitness and a Holistic Approach

Henri Lai Hon Leong, a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner, faced a harsh reality when his brother passed away at just 44 years old due to morbid obesity. This tragic event served as a wake-up call for Henri, who was 38 years old and weighed 110 kg at the time. As a clinician advising patients on the importance of maintaining a healthy weight, Henri felt a deep sense of hypocrisy, knowing that he wasn’t following his own advice.

“I realized that I was telling my clients to take care of their diet and health while not doing it myself. It felt hypocritical,” Henri shared.

Over the years, Henri had tried various quick-fix methods for weight loss, including laser treatments, slimming creams, and other technologies like ultrasound and radiofrequency treatments. Despite spending a fortune on these methods, the results were fleeting and left him feeling frustrated.

“I spent so much money on treatments that were supposed to melt away fat, but the results never lasted,” he recalled.

It was then that Henri decided to take a different approach. He joined MOVE Mont Kiara, where he began working with Coach Yan Sheng. Unlike his previous experiences, Henri found the process at MOVE to be simple, effective, and sustainable.

“The methods used at MOVE are very simple. They don’t force you to do things you can’t do, which is the most important thing. It’s about educating you on what you should be doing and supporting you every step of the way,” Henri explained.

Henri’s journey was not just about losing weight; it was about improving his overall quality of life. As he began to incorporate strength training and fitness into his routine, he noticed significant changes in his daily life and work as a TCM practitioner.

“I never imagined I could do exercises like Romanian deadlifts. These movements have made my work easier, whether it’s squatting for long hours during acupuncture or just moving around in general,” Henri said with pride.

The physical changes were evident as well. Henri dropped from a size XXXL to XL and lost around 12 kg, going from 110 kg to 97-98 kg. His energy levels soared, and his patients began noticing the difference too.


“My patients started telling me that I looked slimmer, which was a great compliment. I’m proud of the fat loss and muscle gain, but what I’m most proud of is the energy I now have. I’ve never felt so energetic in my life,” Henri shared.

Henri’s transformation is a testament to the power of a holistic approach to fitness and fat loss. His journey was not just about shedding pounds but about reclaiming his health and energy through sustainable lifestyle changes.

“My advice to others is to not be afraid of joining a gym or engaging in any physical activity you enjoy. Just take the first step and move. If you don’t move, you’ll stay where you are. Revive, energize—that’s what a workout should do for you,” Henri advised.

With Coach Yan Sheng’s guidance, Henri has embraced a holistic approach to fitness, focusing not just on weight loss but on overall well-being. His story is an inspiring reminder that true transformation comes from within, and that the journey to health and fitness is about much more than just numbers on a scale.
