THE WEIGHTING GAME: Moving in August last year into my 80th year on this planet, I was simply going along to the gym, 2 or maybe 3 times a week, hopping onto a bike for 10 minutes to warm up, and (to remind my hips and knees that they had to stay strong to get me through the next few years of my life), I would then hop on the leg extension machine, the leg curl machine, and the leg press machine, again to make sure I didn't ever, like some of my friends at my age, loose my mobility. Then it happened I saw a headline and an article in the New Zealand LISTENER, AUGUST 2-8 2025, the headline was:THE WEIGHTING GAME. How exercise with weights is vital for Strength, cognition and healthy aging, PLUS: How much protein do we really need?Ah that's it, I said to myself, I need to get a "good Coach". And I did. I had heard about PICH from a friend who highly recommended her. So appointment was made with her to see if she would like to take me on, and if she was the right COACH for me. We worked together for 10 weeks, twice a week, 1 day on my upper body and another on lower body, and I started DEADLIFTS with the 20kg bar and, 10 weeks on I could lift 75kgs, thanks to PICH.💪 🏋♂️So how to summarize it all, I clearly now understand that Strength training is now the go-to for healthy aging, with benefits revealed for the body and the brain to prevent illness and injury. 🏋♂️👌🎶
