Overcoming Mobility Challenges: Norzaimah’s Fitness Breakthrough at 53

Norzaimah, a vibrant 53-year-old mother of two, had always been active until a persistent leg pain halted her mobility for the past two years. Unable to run or engage in any exercise, she faced a significant challenge that hindered her daily life.

 

 

Her primary goal when joining MOVE Bukit Jalil was to regain her mobility and resume running after a three-month period. The pain in her leg had become a limiting factor, especially during vacations with her sons. A memorable moment came during a holiday where walking 10,000 steps became a struggle, forcing her to rely on knee supports that offered little relief.

The frustration of not being able to move freely and enjoy shopping during vacations pushed Norzaimah to seek a solution. The consultation and assessment at MOVE revealed a methodology that resonated with her – smaller, consistent goals.

“Coming in, I appreciated the steps we took. It wasn’t about drastic changes but rather gradual progress,” says Norzaimah.

Embracing the step-by-step approach, Norzaimah experienced remarkable progress within the first two weeks. Despite the initial difficulty, she achieved a significant milestone by running for 10 minutes. Coach Kyle’s motivational yet non-pushy style became a source of encouragement for her. After two weeks of training, she was surprised to find herself running 10 minutes on the threadmill on her own, without any pain!

 

“I remember feeling ecstatic after completing 10 minutes of running. Coach Kyle reminded me that every achievement, no matter how small, is worth celebrating,” shares Norzaimah.

One standout breakthrough was the modification of movements to enhance her overall mobility. Coach Kyle’s continuous support and guidance were pivotal in Norzaimah’s journey. The true highlight, however, came when she achieved four sets of ten reps of a 60kg hip thrust – a feat unimaginable just two months prior.

Norzaimah’s story reflects the power of perseverance and the positive impact of personalized training. Through her dedication and Coach Kyle’s expertise, she not only overcame mobility challenges but also achieved feats she once thought impossible. This fitness breakthrough at 53 is an inspiration to anyone facing similar obstacles, showcasing that age is no barrier to transformative change.
